January 2025

Gung hay fat choy

(Wishing you great happiness and prosperity)

This month brings the Chinese celebration of the Lunar Spring Festival.

With 2025 being the year of the snake, I’m reminded that the Snake, in the Chinese Zodiac represents wisdom, resilience, transformation, flexibility and love.

And this, my friends, will be my goal, my mantra for this year.

As most of you are aware, our little friends have been making potions for the last few school months.

Armed with dropppers, and vegitable prine colored water, we’ve continued to enjoy making a whole lot of brown.

How many colors take to make brown? Will it taste like chocolate?

This excitement has moved into paints, pencils and play-dough.

So much brown…

BUT! We used our powers of blending to step it up and make our own tea and ‘magic salt’.

This was only made possible though the amazing Ms Kristen.

Kristyn is not only Alexis mom and business owner, but also an incredible modern day Alchemist.
Ms Kristyn helped us add Magnesium salts, epsom salts, flowers and herbs into mason jars and shake.
The salts have begun to change colors, absorbing the natural colors.
Each jar has a specific plant to color the salt.
We continue shaking these daily and they are just beautiful.

Ms Kristyn also brought in herbs and flowers, so we could mix our own herbal tea.

Our friends were able to choose 4 ingredients to scoop and mix.

We were also gifted a beautiful tea strainer, that Ms Kristyn was clever enough to gift at the end of class.

I’m not sure how you all ended up experiencing the lovely gift, but I was attacked mercilessly by tiny metal jaws on my walk home, by a certain four year old of mine, who shall not be named…

We all had a wonderful time with Ms Kristyn, and we cant wait to have her back to concoct more potions!

Some of our friends were able to create our own wands.

Some have been made from recycled crafts and natural materials.

Some of us created wands from skewers covered in clay.

Being magic has been quite the theme at Wombat Hollow.

And I’m always excited to see where the magic takes us.

This month it has taken us to castles where firefighters save stuffies.

To tea parties where angry fairies make soup for sad unicorns.

It has taken us to Anime warrior worlds, Minecraft platforms and even introduced us to creatures that absolutely do not make sense!

I adore this kind of magic and the little minds that wield it.

Thank you so much to our awesome guest and all round nice guy, Ms Kristyn Walch.

It is so wonderful when everyone is so excited to the very end of a project.

I know we will continue making so many awesome concoctions with you.

If you need a herbal expert or for your naturopathic needs, Sacred Oak Apothecary is Ms Kristyns business.

With climates becoming icier,

I wanted to remind everyone that Wombat Hollow Farm is a safe place for all.

So pack a good pair of boots, a big snack and a whole lot of kindness.

We love you.
