April 2025
Here comes the Sun!
Spring is here!
It has felt like a million years since we’ve had that beautiful sunshine.
This month has been a time of growing, experiments, bugs and outdoor water play.
The Spring Egg Hunt was so much fun with our guest Ms Marika, who showed us how to decorate eggs with dried flowers!
April also brought us four new friends in our Joey classes.
Showing our new friends around the spring blooming flowers, newly- built clear easel, and fairy garden, have been the highlight for everyone.

Water play has been such an amazing way to cool down and satisfy our sensory curiosity.
Water beads and rubber ducks in water tables, mud water in our mud kitchen, spray bottles for watering plants (and certain sad little black dogs) as well as dipping sticks into the stream, have kept our friends very busy and very muddy!

I think water sensory tables are one of the best inventions for kids.
And water beads, just might be a close second.
Our friends used the biodegradable balls for everything. From soup, to money and even dinosaur food.
The next best thing to water is BUGS!
Every log is being moved, every leaf flipped, and every sandpit scoured for any creature.
Our friends know that no matter what the creature, they deserve to be safe and sound, held with gentle hands, for a minute, and then let go.
Bugs are our friends and we just love them!

Experimenting with egg shells and natural ways to color them have been more fun than we imagined.
We dyed some with onion skin (came out red/brown), dragonfruit (pink), turmeric (yellow) and some natural pre-made food dye.
With assistance from a curious Blue Jay, some of our blown eggs were broken.
So, we decided to save what we could and with other natural materials made little easter bunny beds.
I think we may make this a yearly tradition.

A big thank you to all of you who could make it to the Spring Egg hunt and to Ms Marika who brought such a beautiful craft for us to do.
I’m going to start drying flowers for next years eggs!

A monthly reminder!
Wombat Hollow Farm is a safe place for all, no matter who you are, or where you come from.
So pack a good pair of boots, a big snack and a whole lot of kindness.
We love you.
Ms Dee, Noodles and crew.
