Our Inspiration

The Wombat is an incredibly adaptive marsupial who with their soft brown fur almost magically glow under UV light. So too, a child offered a guiding light can glow. At Wombat Hollow we believe those who guide and care for children need to be adaptive, open-hearted and patient. We celebrate the unique and support with kindness.

We recognize how important balance and diversity is in nature as it is in our children. Our teachers are guides and are endlessly inspired by many educational methods like Montessori, Reggio, Yoga and Waldorf, to offer your child flexible and nurturing educational enrichment.

Our Farm

Our families come from nearby neighborhoods, and Wombat Hollow Farm is home to many animals, insects and gardens to explore and learn with.

On fully fenced acreage nestled between fascinating wetlands, wildlife reserves and animal pastures, there are endless adventures to be had. From snuggly goats to squiggly worms, tickly pigs to friendly squirrels, there are opportunities to play and care for animals every day. We also grow and tend to a variety of butterfly, bee, prehistoric and edible gardens.

Our Philosophy

It is our strong belief that nature play encourages balance. How important outdoor exploration is for cultivating confidence for building friendships and offers opportunities for risk taking, problem solving and autonomy. Like the wombat we believe in silliness. With small ratios and lots of giggles, we support your child’s curiosity, offering endless creative and educational opportunities.

A group of Wombats is called a Wisdom! And well, we think that makes perfect sense.

Our Core Values

Continuous Learning

At Wombat Hollow we are inspired by nature and educational methods such as Montessori, Waldorf, Reggio and Yoga.
We continue our own education by researching neurodiversity, volunteering in our community and are in regular contact with professionals in the ever-expanding field of Occupational therapy.

Forest Farm Life

Animals are an incredible resource for young people, giving space for risk taking, communication and socializing. We are lucky to have a small number of rescue animals at Wombat Hollow!
Surrounded by forest and fully fenced acreage, children can collect fresh eggs from our little flock in the Chicken Wagon. Explore the paddocks, brush and cuddle snuggly goats, Scratch the sweetest Kune Kune pig bellies and chat to fluffy Alpacas.

Diversity & Inclusion

We learn from different cultures and enjoy guest speakers from many backgrounds and professions.
We enjoy and support our community, small businesses, choirs and even work with wildlife rescue and rehabilitation at the farm. We follow the seasons and explore the creatures and plants that live and change throughout the year and from around the world. The world is so beautifully diverse, and we celebrate that.

Gardens

We love to get our hands dirty! Our friends have access to fruit and vegetable gardens, and we love to sample these yummies. We love to cook and experiment with recipes.
Our friends plant seeds and watch them grow! Collect water plants and tadpoles. Compare different leaves to share with the butterflies to watch grow and release. There are gardens just for bees and butterflies and gardens dedicated to native plants. Bring those rain boots and rain suits!

Music and Art

We are dedicated to offering enrichment through music and art. We offer access to pottery and ceramic creation with our own Kiln and potter's wheel. Children can learn how to use tools for building their own masterpieces, make their own modeling dough and paint with plants!
Our inspiration is as endless as your child’s imagination. Wombat Hollow has a large selection of musical instruments to explore, and we listen to music as often as we can. There is music in nature and we love to listen to birds and animals, make our own instruments and learn breathing exercises while sampling music from around the world.

Nature & Sustainability

We believe that nature offers many resources for us to use in all aspects of learning. As well as spending a lot of our time outside, we use nature for crafts, STEM, cooking, painting and more.
We reuse and recycle our resources as much as we can. We prefer natural dyes and biodegradable glitter. We take care of our environment and learn how to lower our carbon footprint.

Child-Led

We believe that every child deserves to be given the chance to thrive. So, we are flexible and cater to each child as an individual, holistically.
Wombat Hollow follows the individual’s interest. Offering diverse materials, resources, stories and enrichment, allowing the child to build their own foundation of positivity and excitement towards self-motivated education.

Balance

Children learn in so many different environments and we find balance is key for happy hands and minds.
At Wombat Hollow, we spend as much time as we can outside. We also enjoy sheltered areas around the farm as well as our cozy studio. Your little one will not only be offered the chance for risky outdoor play but also enjoy STEAM, read stories, play games and explore the written word. We have plenty of unstructured play, within safe guidelines, to leave room for imagination and creation.

Community

We encourage our students to be good citizens and contribute to a strong and healthy community to support their growth and those around them.
We enjoy and support our community, small businesses, local choirs and even work with wildlife rescue and rehabilitation at the farm.
